Platform Operations Engineer

Job Description
A Platform Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting multiple applications across different technologies in an enterprise-hosted environment. This role provides escalation support for various platforms and services, ensuring seamless operations. Engineers in this position perform regular upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with teams to create effective solutions. Additionally, they are responsible for communication with end users regarding system updates and changes.
Shift Timing: Monthly rotational
Support Role: 24/7
Requirements
- Independently manage workload, resolve issues, and balance priorities while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
- Analyze client and team requests to resolve both short-term and long-term technical challenges.
- Engineer solutions to align with company service level agreements (SLAs) and client expectations.
- Monitor and fine-tune applications through project initiatives, enhancements, and integrations.
- Perform scheduled upgrades of applications within the hosted environment.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex assignments and provide mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Work closely with senior engineers to document production environments, design changes, and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in a professional role with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or 3 years with a master's degree; PhD candidates may apply without prior experience.
- Basic knowledge of operating systems, databases, and networking concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Linux administration, including RedHat, CentOS, and Rocky Linux.
- Solid understanding of web servers, application servers, DNS, and mail servers.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell or Python.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible is a plus.
- Industry certifications related to supported applications are an advantage.
- Experience in configuring and managing system zones.
- Hands-on experience in day-to-day Linux server administration, security management, and log analysis.
- Ability to analyze security scans and assist in vulnerability remediation.
- Basic knowledge of ELK stack and Tableau is beneficial.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
