DevOps Engineer II

Job Description
The DevOps Engineer II will play a significant role in the development, automation, and security across their diverse company portfolio. They presently use a diverse number of systems like Chef, GitLab, GitLab-CI, Terraform, and Kubernetes to automate the testing and delivery of both their Windows and Linux-based hosted applications, with plans to consolidate on a standard set of tools leveraging GitLab-CI and Kubernetes where possible. The DevOps Engineer II will have a good understanding of full-stack application development, testing, continuous integration, a passion for security, and experience working in an agile software development environment.
Requirements
What your impact will look like here:
- Support the software development process by identifying inefficiencies, recommending solutions, automating delivery, and implementing testing.
- Write automated tests for application availability, performance, and deployment consistency.
- Escalation support for the SRE team.
- Provisioning and maintenance of systems, load balancer configs, firewall rules, databases, and other automation-driven infrastructure tasks.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines to build and deploy their software.
You will love this job if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science and/or relevant experience.
- 2+ years of software engineering or operations support.
- Comfortable with various programming languages (Ruby, Ansible, Bash, Perl, Python, etc.).
- Good proficiency in diagnosing and remediating complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills for working across support and engineering departments.
- Good understanding of cloud hosting infrastructure such as GCP.
- Good understanding of virtualization environments, especially VMware vSphere.
- Good understanding of source control management (GitHub, GitLab preferred).
- Passion for security and identifying opportunities to improve security and testing.
- Designing and implementing GCP infrastructure using IaC.
- Monitoring the infrastructure and application for improvements and analyzing application and system logs.
- Troubleshooting and debugging GCP-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and system outages.
- Developing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery plans.
