Role Overview – Junior Penetration Testing Engineer In this role, you will focus on identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and tracking remediation of vulnerabilities across Amgen’s technology stack. You will be a key member of the Security Operations team, ensuring known vulnerabilities are effectively managed using structured processes and tools.
Requirements
- Analyze vulnerability scan results from tools such as Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7
- Prioritize vulnerabilities based on CVSS scores, KEV (Known Exploited Vulnerabilities), EPSS (Exploit Prediction Scoring System), asset criticality, and business impact
- Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to track remediation progress and provide mitigation guidance
- Monitor threat intelligence feeds to correlate vulnerabilities with active exploits
- Create and maintain vulnerability metrics, dashboards, and reports
- Support vulnerability assessments in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Document vulnerability management processes and maintain records
- Assist in audits and compliance efforts (SOX, ISO, NIST, PCI)
Candidate Profile Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree with 1–3 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Vulnerability Management, or Information Security Operations OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience OR
- Diploma with 7–9 years of experience in the field
Must-Have Skills:
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools (Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7)
- Strong understanding of CVSS scoring, vulnerability lifecycle, and remediation workflows
- Basic knowledge of threat intelligence and its role in vulnerability prioritization
- Working knowledge of network, operating system, and application-level security
- Ability to analyze scan data and correlate it with business and threat intelligence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with KEV, EPSS, and threat-based scoring systems
- Knowledge of patch management processes and tools
- Exposure to cloud security and related scanning tools (Prisma Cloud, AWS Inspector)
- Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC GSEC/GCIH, QVMS, or TCNA

- Attention to detail and precise tracking of vulnerabilities and resolutions
- Excellent communication skills to convey findings to diverse audiences
- Ability to collaborate effectively across IT, DevOps, and security teams
