Role Overview – Junior Penetration Testing Engineer In this role, you will focus on identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and tracking remediation of vulnerabilities across Amgen’s technology stack. You will be a key member of the Security Operations team, ensuring known vulnerabilities are effectively managed using structured processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Analyze vulnerability scan results from tools such as Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7
  • Prioritize vulnerabilities based on CVSS scores, KEV (Known Exploited Vulnerabilities), EPSS (Exploit Prediction Scoring System), asset criticality, and business impact
  • Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to track remediation progress and provide mitigation guidance
  • Monitor threat intelligence feeds to correlate vulnerabilities with active exploits
  • Create and maintain vulnerability metrics, dashboards, and reports
  • Support vulnerability assessments in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Document vulnerability management processes and maintain records
  • Assist in audits and compliance efforts (SOX, ISO, NIST, PCI)

Candidate Profile Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree with 1–3 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Vulnerability Management, or Information Security Operations OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience OR
  • Diploma with 7–9 years of experience in the field

Must-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with vulnerability management tools (Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7)
  • Strong understanding of CVSS scoring, vulnerability lifecycle, and remediation workflows
  • Basic knowledge of threat intelligence and its role in vulnerability prioritization
  • Working knowledge of network, operating system, and application-level security
  • Ability to analyze scan data and correlate it with business and threat intelligence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with KEV, EPSS, and threat-based scoring systems
  • Knowledge of patch management processes and tools
  • Exposure to cloud security and related scanning tools (Prisma Cloud, AWS Inspector)
  • Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC GSEC/GCIH, QVMS, or TCNA

  • Analytical thinking with strong problem-solving approach
  • Attention to detail and precise tracking of vulnerabilities and resolutions
  • Excellent communication skills to convey findings to diverse audiences
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across IT, DevOps, and security teams
